In 2023, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. achieved operating income of 173.1 billion yuan, an increase of 44%; vehicle sales of 334,000 units, heavy-duty truck market share of 26%, firmly ranked first in both sales and market share in the domestic heavy-duty truck industry; heavy-duty truck exports of 130,000 units, an increase of 47%, firmly ranked first in the industry.

The transformation and upgrading of new industrialization is an important topic of current economic development. On February 12, 2020, the construction of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group's "Intelligent Networked (New Energy) Heavy Truck Project" (hereinafter referred to as the "Laiwu Factory") started. It took 9 months and the first heavy truck rolled off the assembly line on November 18. It took only 280 days from the groundbreaking to the first heavy truck rolling off the assembly line, creating an industry record of "starting construction and putting into production in the same year". The record was created thanks to the digital and intelligent transformation and upgrading.






In the welding workshop of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group's Laiwu Factory, the scene of workers holding a welding mask in one hand and a welding gun in the other hand for welding no longer exists. The robots in the smart factory have completely replaced manual welding. Pieces of steel plates enter the welding workshop and become the front of the "New Yellow River" heavy truck when they leave.

"It takes about 3-4.5 seconds for a robot to weld a spot, and a head has 3,000 such spots. The entire workshop has 38 processes, and it only takes two and a half hours to complete from a part to a head." The relevant person in charge told reporters, "Only five workers are needed to manage the two production lines in the welding workshop."

At the same time, the "smart brain" of the welding workshop is also running. It is connected to the central control system of the welding workshop. In addition to controlling the robot, it is also responsible for order distribution and quality monitoring. It has a high degree of intelligence and can work continuously for about 20 hours.





The relevant person in charge introduced that the intelligent manufacturing platform independently implemented by China National Heavy Duty Truck Group can realize pull-type production with order delivery as the main line through process control of the six modules of planning, production, process, quality, abnormality, and team, realize all-round real-time data collection and monitoring of production equipment, improve the coordination and management transparency of the entire production process, accelerate the production rhythm of the whole vehicle unit by 9%, shorten the order delivery cycle by 14%, and increase the per capita production efficiency by 15%.

After the cab is welded, painted, showered and other processes are completed, it will be transported to the final assembly workshop and spliced with the chassis. The heavy chassis can be transported by AGV carts. "These carts can be said to be the busiest transporters in the workshop. Although they are small in size, they can carry nearly 10 tons and can drive automatically, automatically identify directions and routes, and automatically stop and avoid obstacles when encountering them. These carts can also charge while moving, and can complete wireless charging with underground pre-buried cables, which is very flexible." said the relevant person in charge.

It is understood that China National Heavy Duty Truck Group attaches great importance to improving the capacity of production line process equipment. Through the introduction of new equipment, punching, welding, coating, and assembly process equipment have been fully upgraded, continuously improving work efficiency, improving process methods, and improving product quality. In recent years, the application growth rate of advanced equipment such as production line robots, AGVs, and vision has exceeded 300%, and the number of first-class production lines in the industry has reached 24, which has improved production line efficiency and product consistency while reducing costs and increasing efficiency.

In the cab installation link, the worker first accurately controls the cab installation position through the remote control, and then tightens the connection points. The whole process is smooth and seamless. In the final assembly workshop, there are more than 300 processes, and each process can be completed within 5 minutes with the tacit cooperation between man and machine.

In addition, the factory has also built the first intelligent flexible production line in China, which can realize the manufacturing of diesel, natural gas, and hydrogen heavy trucks on the same production line.
